Metallica wows critics in Parken – Mixed reviews for metal band

Metallica impresses critics in Parken – Much praise for the metal band. On Friday night, Copenhagen was hit by Metallica’s world tour, and according to critics, the band delivered an impressive performance. Metallica, with the Danish drummer Lars Ulrich, took the stage at Parken and garnered recognition from several media outlets, although some aspects could have been better.

Ekstra Bladet gave the concert four stars and described how “the stands trembled when Metallica broke through the sound barrier with the devastating opening number ‘Creeping Death’, and ‘Hit the Lights’ was so exhilarating that they could barely keep up themselves.” B.T. followed suit with four stars and praised the concert’s balance between old and new material, with transitions and sound being exceptional. However, Ekstra Bladet noted that the concert suffered from a “widespread tendency to idle halfway,” affecting the audience’s engagement. B.T. also criticized the “shockingly boring stage show,” where Metallica failed to optimize Parken’s round stage.

Politiken also gave four stars and wrote that Metallica “defied a law of nature or two at Parken.” The newspaper noted, however, that the band was “very slow to get started despite a strong start.” But with hits like “Nothing Else Matters” and “Sad But True,” they managed to get the many metal fans going. Politiken’s reviewer also highlighted the exceptionally good sound at Parken, making it hard to have a bad evening at Metallica.

Jyllands-Posten was most enthusiastic and gave five stars. They particularly praised Lars Ulrich’s presence, humility, and excellent drumming, described as “stylish, convincing, and aggressive.” The reviewer also noted Ulrich’s gesture of greeting his fans, setting the tone for the two-hour concert.

Metallica is back in Parken on Sunday for another show under the slogan “No repeat weekend,” where they promise a completely different concert with new setlists and other supporting artists.
