The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) has issued a warning about intense showers and thunderstorms, particularly in Jutland and Funen until 8 PM on Sunday evening. Meteorologist Erik Hansen advises to bring an umbrella and rain gear if planning to watch Denmark’s first Euro Cup match outdoors. “It looks unsettled, and there will be a lot of showers around the country, especially in the western part. The showers can also be intense with thunder. But you may be lucky and avoid them, especially in the eastern part of the country. In the capital area, you can probably completely dodge the showers,” says Erik Hansen.
DMI has issued a risk warning for cloudbursts and thunder, specifically for Jutland and the western half of Funen. A cloudburst is defined as more than 15 millimeters of rain in half an hour, and this risk remains until 8 PM. With the game starting at 6 PM, the meteorologist recommends being prepared if watching football outdoors. Although the risk warning does not apply to the eastern part of the country, one should also be prepared for showers here, but they are likely not as intense as those that could hit Jutland and parts of Funen.
Sunday’s weather continues in the same vein as Saturday, when cloudbursts were recorded between Skanderborg and Aarhus. So far, 56.1 millimeters of rain have been measured in June, which is almost equivalent to the average for the entire month at 64.3 millimeters. For those hoping for better weather, there may be good news from the middle of next week. According to the meteorologist, it will gradually become drier and sunnier from Wednesday, and the forecasts for Friday also look promising. “So it looks more summery,” concludes Erik Hansen.
