Danish Politicians Face Deadline for Removing Election Posters

On Sunday, June 9, Danes voted in the European Parliament election, and in the weeks leading up to the election, lamp posts all over the country were covered with election posters. For some, these are an unavoidable element of the election campaign, while for others, they are just a nuisance. But regardless of the viewpoint, there is a common expectation that the posters should be removed quickly after election day. According to the rules, the election posters must be removed no later than eight days after election day at the end of the day, which means that politicians have until midnight on Monday to clean up. However, there is no risk of politicians encountering law enforcement if the deadline is not met. Instead, the parties will receive a bill from the Danish Road Directorate (Vejdirektoratet) and the municipalities, who will work together to remove and store the posters. Copenhagen Municipality has not yet set the exact price for taking down the posters, as this will depend on the number that needs to be removed. Previous statements to TV 2 Kosmopol have indicated that the price will be between 50 and 100 Danish kroner per poster.
