Defense lawyer questions Danish PM’s whiplash claim, demands evidence.

Defense lawyer Henrik Karl Nielsen expresses great perplexity over the recent announcement from the Prime Minister’s Office that Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen had suffered a whiplash as a result of an incident on June 7th at Kultorvet in Copenhagen. This information comes from a press release where a part of Frederiksen’s medical record was made public. According to the record, an examination was conducted shortly after the incident, which identified whiplash.

“If such a record truly exists, she can just send it to the Copenhagen Police. I am just surprised that it doesn’t seem like she mentioned it when she spoke with the police on June 13th,” says Henrik Karl Nielsen, who defends the man accused of hitting Mette Frederiksen on the shoulder on June 7th.

The lawyer emphasizes that it is “completely new to me” that there should be an examination documenting Mette Frederiksen’s whiplash. Just hours before his interview with B.T., Henrik Karl Nielsen participated in a court hearing at the Copenhagen City Court, where he presented parts of a medical examination of Mette Frederiksen dated June 17th. According to this examination, there is no mention of whiplash, only ‘tenderness upon palpation of soft tissues’.

Henrik Karl Nielsen is therefore puzzled as to why the quotes from Mette Frederiksen’s medical record have not been part of the case file until now. “When it is even mentioned and quoted from, I must believe that it exists. I just wonder why such an important document has not long been included in the case,” he states.

He points out that it would normally be in the victim’s interest to include all relevant documents in the case, especially if they could have implications for potential compensation.

During Thursday’s court hearing, the judge decided that the 39-year-old man, accused of the assault, will remain in custody until July 4th. The man is charged with assault under section 119 of the Penal Code, which deals with violence against a public official in the performance of their duties.

B.T. has attempted to obtain a comment from the Prime Minister’s Office regarding Henrik Karl Nielsen’s statements, but they have not responded before publication.
