After a rainy Friday, the weather seems to be clearing up for Midsummer’s Eve, promises the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI). According to Anesten Devasakayam, the duty meteorologist at DMI, there will be dry weather and a possibility of sunshine when the Midsummer bonfires are lit around the country.
Friday’s weather starts out dry in many places with a chance of some morning sun. However, a low-pressure system with an associated front will move in from the south during the day, increasing cloud cover. Rain will begin in the southern part of the country tonight and move northwards overnight into Saturday. DMI has issued a warning for heavy rain and local cloudbursts from 8 p.m. on Friday evening, which could mean between 25 and 35 millimeters of rain in six hours, and locally maybe up to 50 millimeters.
Temperatures will be summery, ranging between 15 and 20 degrees. On Saturday, the remnants of the front will move over the central and northern parts of the country, bringing showers. However, by mid-morning, the front will move further north and northeast, clearing from the south. Most of the country can therefore expect dry weather and some sun, with temperatures again between 15 and 20 degrees.
Sunday, which is also Midsummer’s Eve, looks even better. Anesten Devasakayam says the day will start with plenty of sunshine across the country. In the afternoon, there may be a few more clouds, but by the evening, it should clear up again. Temperatures may even reach 22 degrees during the day.
Therefore, it looks like Midsummer’s Eve can be enjoyed in dry weather and with a possibility of sunshine.
