DSB expands capacity: More train tickets to Dortmund available
Interest in watching the Danish national football team live in Dortmund has reached new heights after Denmark qualified for the Euro 2020 round of 16 against Germany. This has resulted in a massive demand for train tickets to the German city, where the match will be played on Saturday evening.
DSB (Danish State Railways) previously announced sold-out departures from Copenhagen, but now they have good news for the many fans still seeking transportation. DSB has managed to secure an additional 300 train tickets to Germany. This was confirmed by Tony Bispeskov, the head of communications, to Ritzau.
“We have explored all options to find extra seats so more Danish fans can travel to Dortmund and support the team,” explains Tony Bispeskov. “We have succeeded in freeing up more train sets, which means there are now extra tickets available. So if you have not yet secured your transportation, there is still a chance.”
The newly available tickets apply to train departures from Copenhagen Central Station on Friday and Saturday morning at seven o’clock. The route involves a transfer in Hamburg, after which one can expect to arrive in Dortmund at 15:32. The match against Germany starts at 21:00 on Saturday evening.
For those planning their return journey after the match, DSB has also arranged extra tickets on a train departing from Hamburg to Copenhagen on Sunday.
The Danish national football team’s meeting with Germany has garnered significant attention among Danish fans. According to DSB, nearly 10,000 train tickets have been sold for the Denmark-Germany match from Wednesday to Saturday.
“From today, Wednesday, until Saturday, almost 10,000 Danes have purchased train tickets to Germany to see Euro football,” says Tony Bispeskov.
Therefore, it appears that the trains to the southern Germany will be filled with Danish fans wearing the iconic red and white colors, ready to support the national team in the exciting round of 16.
