Svendborg Municipality warns against swimming at Lundeborg Beach
Svendborg Municipality is now urging everyone to avoid swimming at Lundeborg Beach on the east part of Funen. This warning comes after a water sample taken on June 21 revealed elevated levels of enterococci, a type of bacteria. The municipality announced this via their official Facebook page with the message:
“Unfortunately, we have measured high levels of enterococci in the water at Lundeborg Beach. Therefore, we temporarily advise against swimming in the area.” Enterococci are intestinal bacteria found in both animals and humans, and their presence in bathing water can pose a health risk.
New samples will soon be taken to assess the water quality at Lundeborg Beach. The municipality promises to inform the public as soon as it is safe to swim again:
“When the new samples show that the water is clean and safe to swim in again, we will announce it,” Svendborg Municipality writes.
