Employees at Gl. Holtegaard are facing an uncertain future as they may soon receive a pink slip. According to Berlingske, the future of the art gallery is therefore extremely uncertain. “We must show responsible financial management and make the difficult decision to dismiss the employees,” said Jens Ive (V), chairman of the Breda Foundation, which operates Gl. Holtegaard, to the media. Jens Ive has previously been the mayor of Rudersdal Municipality from 2012 to 2021.
The financial situation has been under pressure for some time, which is the main reason for the potential layoffs. However, there is a small hope for the future of the art gallery. At a meeting later on Wednesday, the municipal council will discuss the possibility of either taking over the operation of Gl. Holtegaard or selling it, Jens Ive informed Berlingske.
Gl. Holtegaard is located in Holte and is known as an art gallery for both modern and classical art. The baroque complex where the art gallery is located was built in 1756 by architect Lauritz de Thurah. In 1993, Gl. Holtegaard was handed over to the Breda Foundation, which has since been responsible for the operation of the art gallery.
