The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) reports unsettled weather and thunderstorms in Jutland from Thursday afternoon. According to DMI’s latest forecasts, heavy rain and thunderstorms can be expected, leading to local cloudbursts.
The summer weather will take a break, and temperatures are expected to drop, while heavy rain and local cloudbursts will affect southwestern Jutland from 3 PM to 11 PM on Thursday. There may also be strong gusts of wind associated with the showers. In the evening, the showers will move northeast, where they may weaken slightly, but the risk of cloudbursts will still be present.
Therefore, DMI has issued a risk alert that applies to northeastern Jutland and large parts of the rest of the country, except for the capital and North Zealand. To be classified as heavy rain, more than 24 millimeters must fall in six hours, while a cloudburst requires more than 15 millimeters of rain in just 30 minutes.
The storm will pass overnight to Friday, when a cold front with rain and thunder will affect the country from the west. Following this, Danes can look forward to a period of more unsettled and cooler weather. Friday will bring a mix of sun, clouds, rain, and heavy thunderstorms in several places. Temperatures will range between 20 and 25 degrees.
