During the summer holiday period, motorists can expect more space on the roads on weekdays, but heavier traffic on Saturdays. According to the latest forecast from the Road Directorate (Vejdirektoratet) for holiday traffic from week 26 to week 32, extra caution should be taken around midday on Saturdays. This is when the risk of traffic jams and extended travel time is highest. The most congested timeframe is from 11 am to 2 pm on Saturdays, when many Danes hit the roads.
On weekdays, however, fewer cars are expected, especially during rush hour, which provides more space and less risk of congestion. This difference in traffic patterns is due to many choosing to drive to their holiday destinations on the weekends. To avoid the worst traffic jams during the summer holiday, it may be a good idea to plan your departure outside of the most congested times.
