1700 people evacuated during summer play offered psychological help
Varde Municipality has decided to offer psychological help to 1700 people who were evacuated during a summer play in Arnbjerg. On Sunday afternoon, a large branch from a beech tree fell down onto the spectator stands and the open-air stage, leading to the rapid evacuation. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident, but those involved, including spectators, actors, and volunteers, were in potential danger of their lives.
Municipal Director Henning Haahr Pedersen stated that the decision to offer psychological help comes as a consequence of the serious situation that could have had fatal consequences if the attendees had not been evacuated in time. “It was a very large branch that weighs several tons. Knowing that one could have been in peril if there had not been a call to evacuate. It definitely affects people,” he says.
Those present now have the opportunity to receive psychological help to process the shock and any potential psychological effects of the incident. The municipality hopes that this initiative will help the affected individuals to recover from the unpleasant experience.
