Throughout the night leading into Tuesday, Forlev Friskole (Forlev Free School) has hosted evacuated citizens from the area of Frølunde Fed near Korsør, after an explosion killed a man earlier in the day. School leader Majse Dahl explains that around 40 people of all ages as well as several dogs stayed overnight at the school, where they were offered coffee and shelter. There was a mix of relief and concern among the evacuated individuals.
The evacuation was carried out by the South Zealand and Lolland-Falster Police on Monday evening for citizens within a 500-meter radius of the explosion’s epicenter. According to duty officer Lars Denholt, around 100 citizens were contacted and asked to evacuate. At Forlev Friskole, classrooms were made available for the evacuated families, and authorities distributed sleeping bags and sleeping mats.
Majse Dahl mentions that some evacuated individuals arrived at the school during the evening but later drove on to family members. Police are still working on the site and plan to remove explosives from the area during the course of Tuesday. The cordon is expected to remain in place for most of the day.
