Tragic end to search: 20-year-old man found dead in Nørresø
The 20-year-old man, who has been missing since the night of Saturday, June 29, has been found dead in Nørresø in Viborg. The discovery was made on Thursday evening at 18:30 by divers from the Navy Diving Service, who have been assisting the police in the search.
Midt- og Vestjyllands Politi (Mid- and West Jutland Police) confirmed in a press release that the deceased has been identified and that there is no doubt about his identity. “He has been identified, and we are sure that it is him,” said deputy police inspector Henrik Glintborg, head of the local police in Viborg.
The search has been intense and comprehensive, involving the use of drones, helicopters, and dogs. In addition, the Navy Diving Service has searched underwater with both divers and sonar. Despite the extensive search activities, the young man was only found after several days of searching.
“Even though we have searched diligently for several days, it is a sad discovery. It is not difficult to understand that family, friends, and relatives are going through a difficult time right now,” said Henrik Glintborg. The relatives have been informed of the tragic discovery.
The police reported that a post-mortem examination will be held on Friday to determine the cause of death, and the investigation will continue. The deputy police inspector also thanked the citizens of Viborg for their understanding and for allowing the police to work without disruption during the search.
