Rain at Roskilde Festival did not lead to police intervention

On Saturday evening, Roskilde Festival experienced a brief spell of rain, but it did not require the police to intervene. According to duty officer Mikael Rahn from the Midt- og Vestsjællands Politi (Mid- and West Zealand Police), the weather did not cause any situations that required police intervention.

Earlier in the evening, the festival’s Apollo stage was temporarily closed to the public due to the storm passing through the area. Despite this safety measure, the concert with musician Eartheater was still able to proceed as the stage was reopened shortly after. According to the festival’s app, the concert started at 9:30 PM.

Roskilde Festival, which started on June 29th, is approaching its conclusion with the final concerts planned for Sunday night.

The day was generally marked by bad weather in several parts of the country, as meteorologists had forecasted. Around 9:30 PM, warnings were issued for storm-force gusts in parts of Southern Jutland, Northern Jutland, and Western Jutland, as well as warnings for local cloudbursts and thunderstorms on Bornholm. The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) recorded four cloudbursts in Emmerlev in Southern Jutland, Himmerland, near Kegnæs Fyr on Als, and near Røsnæs Fyr. Between 15.7 and 20.8 millimeters of rain were measured.

Duty meteorologist Lars Henriksen from DMI also stated that there were large hailstones in both Jutland and Funen. However, the hail on Funen did not affect the police’s work, according to the local duty officer.
