Roskilde Festival has decided to raise the price of full festival tickets starting from 2025 in order to keep up with the rising costs. From next year, the price of a full festival ticket will increase by 120 Danish kroner, bringing the total price to 2520 kroner plus fees. This has been confirmed by the festival in a written statement.
It is stated that the festival has kept the price stable for several years at 2400 kroner plus fees. The festival justifies the price increase by the necessity to follow the general price development and the increasing costs associated with hosting the festival. Hence, it is not an increase in the festival’s profit, as expenses for procurement have also risen.
Roskilde Festival emphasizes that the price is set in order to keep it as low as possible, ensuring that the festival remains accessible to young participants. There is no information yet on whether the price of one-day tickets will also increase.
A full festival ticket to Roskilde Festival provides access to the entire festival period, spanning over eight days. This includes four warm-up days and four days of the actual festival. In 2025, the festival will take place from June 28 to July 5, marking the 53rd edition of the festival. Roskilde Festival has been an annual event since 1971, with the exception of the years 2020 and 2021.
With over 130,000 participants, Roskilde Festival temporarily becomes Denmark’s fourth largest city during its duration. The festival operates as a non-profit event, meaning that all profits are donated to charitable causes. Around 200 artists are expected to perform at the festival.
By comparison, a full festival ticket to the eight-day-long Smukfest in Skanderborg, featuring approximately 160 artists, costs 3495 Danish kroner. Smukfest will be held from August 4 to 11, 2024.
