A warning has been issued after laboratory tests revealed the presence of salmonella in Al’Fez Natural Tahini. The product, sold in stores including Bilka, Føtex, Netto, and Meny, has been found to be contaminated with salmonella and should be immediately discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
The affected product is sold in 160 gram jars with an expiration date between April 2024 and September 2025. Consumers who have purchased Al’Fez Natural Tahini are urged to take necessary precautions to avoid health risks.
Tahini, an essential ingredient in hummus and dressings, is a nut butter made from roasted sesame seeds, similar to peanut butter. Salmonella infections are relatively common and can cause symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. Particularly young children may be at risk as they can quickly become dehydrated, which can be serious.
Salmonella is most commonly transmitted through foods such as meat, salads, and dairy products, and its prevalence is higher during the summer months, peaking in August. Therefore, we urge all consumers who have purchased this product to check their pantries and take the necessary precautions.
