TDC has solved a technical issue that prevented a large group of their customers from using 4G roaming for a day. According to TDC, their customers can now use 4G roaming again when they are abroad. The issue, which affected around 15 percent of the telecommunications company’s customers, occurred Friday afternoon and was due to a technical error with TDC’s roaming partner. This error resulted in system overload, explained Christian Fröhlich, the press officer for TDC Net.
However, the error was not caused by too many customers trying to use 4G roaming at the same time. By Saturday afternoon around 4 p.m., the problem was resolved. Subsequently, TDC has analyzed network data and can confirm that 4G roaming is now functioning normally for their customers. Christian Fröhlich stated, “We are very pleased that the problem has now been resolved, but we apologize for the inconvenience it has caused to the affected customers.”
The issue has affected around 20,000 of TDC’s 130,000 roaming customers, primarily located in popular holiday destinations such as Sweden, Italy, Germany, France, Spain, and Croatia. TDC discovered the problem themselves on Friday afternoon around 4:30 p.m. and have been working on a solution since then. 4G roaming is a service that allows users to access the internet via 4G using a foreign network when they are outside their own provider’s coverage area.
