The Denmark Entertainment Orchestra has appointed a new director following a series of incidents of inappropriate behavior. Andreas Vetö, who previously held the position, left his post in early July after accusations of misconduct. His successor, John Frandsen, who has been the program director in the orchestra, will assume the role of interim director from August 1 on a one-year contract. This was announced by Have Communications on behalf of the orchestra.
John Frandsen is looking forward to collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders as well as the loyal audience. The position became vacant when Andreas Vetö stepped down following several allegations of inappropriate behavior. According to Berlingske and Politiken, Vetö had previously received criticism from employees for his inappropriate behavior, including unwanted text messages to an employee who had asked him not to contact her privately.
Chairman Lars Barfoed confirmed in a statement to Berlingske and Politiken that the board had seen the unwanted messages from Vetö and found them incompatible with the role of a director. Andreas Vetö expressed in a LinkedIn post in connection with his resignation that he regretted the mistakes he had made and would learn from them.
John Frandsen, who is also a composer, organist, and producer, has been the program director in the orchestra since 2015. He has an extensive background in music management, including serving as the former chairman of the Danish Composers’ Society and vice chairman of the Danish Arts Council. The board will decide on the future of the director position after the upcoming year during the period.
