The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) has recorded a record amount of precipitation over a 12-month period. From July 2023 to June 2024, 1125 millimeters of precipitation were measured, making this period the wettest ever recorded by DMI. DMI’s measurements date back to 1874, and this latest period surpasses the previous record from August 2006 to July 2007, when 1091 millimeters fell. The third-place is taken by the period from June 2023 to May 2024 with a precipitation amount of 1056 millimeters.
Looking at the absolutely wettest individual months in a calendar year combined, it totals up to 1675 millimeters of precipitation. For comparison, the 12 driest months recorded by DMI were from November 1946 to October 1947, where only 389 millimeters fell. When combining the absolutely driest individual months, it amounts to just 100 millimeters.
