Anne Laxholm resigns as a judge on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ After 18 years as a central part of the judging panel on the popular TV 2 show ‘Dancing with the Stars’, Anne Laxholm has decided to step down. She told Billed-Bladet that she was contacted by the production, but has chosen to decline this year, believing that it is time to make room for new talents.
Anne Laxholm has been a part of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ since the program’s inception in 2005. Along with Jens Werner and Britt Bendixen, she formed the original judge trio. Her decision to step down marks the end of an era, according to Billed-Bladet.
The 72-year-old Anne Laxholm has had an impressive career in dance. Together with her husband, Hans-Henrik Laxholm, she was the Danish champion from 1975 to 1980 and the European champion in 1979. That same year, the couple became the first Danish world champions in standard dance. Since 2004, they have run the dance studio Dance Academy Laxholm, where they also teach.
With Anne Laxholm’s departure, the original judge trio is now completely replaced. Britt Bendixen left the show in 2021 after 17 seasons and passed away in February last year after a long battle with cancer. Jens Werner retired after the show’s 20th season in 2023 and passed away in July this year.
‘Dancing with the Stars’ will return for its 21st season in 2024. In addition to Anne Laxholm, the judging panel in the last season included ballet master Nikolaj Hübbe, entertainer Sonny Fredie-Pedersen, and dancer Marianne Eihilt. The composition of the future judging panel has not yet been announced.
