A 21-year-old man from Herning is in critical condition following a serious single-vehicle accident on Wednesday evening on Hjermvej near Struer, Denmark. According to duty officer Anders Bøje Hansen from Midt- and West Jutland Police (Midt- og Vestjyllands Politi), the young man sustained significant injuries to the lower part of his body after colliding with a roadside tree.
The accident was reported to the police around 6:00 PM, and a rescue helicopter arrived shortly after at approximately 6:15 PM. After about 45 minutes of treatment at the scene, the man was airlifted to Skejby Hospital (Skejby Sygehus) near Aarhus, where he is currently receiving intensive care.
The cause of the accident is still unknown, and a traffic inspector is present on Hjermvej to further investigate the circumstances surrounding the event. Duty officer Anders Bøje Hansen has stated that the police have not yet had the opportunity to speak with the injured man.
The family of the young man has been informed about the tragic accident.
