### Police Arrest 44-Year-Old Man for Attempted Rape at City Hall Square
In the early hours of the morning, police intervened and arrested a 44-year-old man, who is now charged with attempted rape. According to police reports, the incident occurred on a bench in the middle of City Hall Square (Rådhuspladsen) in Copenhagen.
The man was presented in a preliminary hearing at the Court of Copenhagen (Københavns Byret) on Friday. During the hearing, he made it clear through his Romanian interpreter that he denies any wrongdoing.
The charges state that he attempted to rape a woman at the central square on Friday morning. The woman was in a condition due to alcohol consumption that left her unable to provide consent or resist, as outlined in the charges.
The incident took place at approximately 6:30 AM, and shortly after, the man was arrested by the police. During the court proceedings, the judge decided to remand the 44-year-old man in custody for four weeks. This decision was made based on an assessment that there is a risk the man, if released, would seek to evade further prosecution or the enforcement of the case, as described in the provisions of the Administration of Justice Act (retsplejeloven).
