A judge has now determined that the body found in the River Thames belongs to Abdul Ezedis, the man who attacked a woman and her children with a corrosive substance in South London in February. This was reported by the British media outlet Sky News.
Following an intensive search, coroner Mary Hassell has confirmed that the perpetrator took his own life shortly after the attack, which sent the three victims to the hospital. The attacker was captured on CCTV with burn injuries to his head, further confirming his identity.
Mary Hassell stated, “Given the circumstances and what happened that day, I believe it is likely that he jumped into the water, and I think it is likely he did so with the intention to take his own life.”
The 35-year-old Abdul Ezedis, who worked as a pizza delivery driver, attacked his former girlfriend and her two children with a dangerous corrosive liquid on January 31. The incident occurred in Clapham, in South London. Abdul Ezedis was not the father of the woman’s two daughters. Four bystanders rushed to the rescue after the attack, and three of them also required hospitalization due to minor burn injuries.
The lead investigator has informed that CCTV footage showed that Ezedis inflicted serious injuries upon himself during the attack, which explains the visible burn injuries on him.
