Green Festival Exceeds Expectations with Record Profit in Denmark

# Green Festival Exceeds Expectations: Record Surplus in Sight

Organizers behind the Green Festival (Grøn Festival) have cause for celebration as this year’s event has exceeded all expectations in terms of profitability. The festival, which has been a massive success this year, is attributed not only to careful planning but also to fortunate weather conditions.

Henrik Ib Jørgensen, director of the Muscle Weakness Foundation (Muskelsvindfonden), which alongside Tuborg organizes the festival, stated, “Considering how cold and wet the summer has been so far, we are very relieved. We’ve only had one day of really bad weather in Odense, so we have been incredibly lucky.”

The festival’s final event is set to take place this Sunday in Valby, after touring eight cities across Denmark. Remarkably, all tickets sold out weeks in advance, as early as June, before the first concert in Tårnby. “We knew that 2024 would be a good year when we sold out so early for the first time,” Jørgensen said. However, he expressed concerns about the impact of weather on attendance.

“In comparison to many other festivals, our prices are not at the high end. So I believe many would have stayed away, even if they had purchased tickets, had the weather been terrible,” he explained.

Despite the weather challenges, it appears that the festival will generate a significant economic surplus. “We haven’t delved into the numbers yet, but my expectation is that it will be financially beyond all expectations,” stated Jørgensen, who refrained from providing a specific figure.

The surplus from the Green Festival, which was previously known as the Green Concert (Grøn Koncert), supports the work of the Muscle Weakness Foundation in assisting individuals with muscle weakness and their families. “This gives us the opportunity to strengthen our efforts in advising people and helping them lead meaningful lives with muscle weakness. At the same time, we can also initiate more research, so we are very happy,” Jørgensen added.

This year, the festival visited Tårnby, Valby, Næstved, Odense, Kolding, Esbjerg, Aarhus, and Aalborg, selling a record 195,000 tickets, the highest in the festival’s history. Last year, they also reached a milestone with 180,500 sold tickets for the first time. The ticket price this year was 375 Danish kroner (approximately $54).

The lineup for this year’s festival included notable artists such as Tobias Rahim, Kesi, Burhan G, and Jada, as well as Hugorm, Scarlet Pleasure, Blæst, and TV-2. With record ticket sales and an economic surplus surpassing expectations, the Green Festival can reflect on an exceptionally successful year.
