A 19-year-old man faces charges for serious assault following a grave incident on Grimhøjvej in Brabrand on Sunday evening, where a 45-year-old man was struck by a vehicle.

East Jutland Police (Østjyllands Politi) report that the young man deliberately hit the older individual around 9 PM. After the incident, the perpetrator fled the scene; however, authorities located the vehicle allegedly involved later that evening, leading to the arrest of the 19-year-old.

The accused is scheduled to appear before a judge at Aarhus Court (Retten i Aarhus) on Monday afternoon, where the court will consider a possible pre-trial detention. Emil Enemark Sørensen, a communications advisor at East Jutland Police, confirmed this information to the news agency Ritzau.

The young man is charged under section 245 of the Danish Penal Code, which pertains to serious assault and in this case involves the use of a vehicle as a weapon.

Details regarding the accused’s response to the charges and his potential motives remain unknown. During the court hearing, he will have the opportunity to provide his account of the incident.
