A tragic accident occurred on a bicycle path near Thisted, Denmark, when two cyclists collided. One of the individuals involved, a 75-year-old woman, has since died, confirmed Police Commissioner Henrik Jensen from the local police in Thisted.
The accident took place on Saturday when the woman was involved in a serious collision with an oncoming cyclist, a 65-year-old man. According to police assumptions, the two cyclists collided on a bike path along Hanstholmvej, close to Thisted. The woman was subsequently airlifted by a medical helicopter to Aalborg University Hospital in critical condition due to a head injury.
“She was flown out due to a head injury, and she has since passed away,” stated Henrik Jensen. The police currently have no direct eyewitnesses to the accident and have not yet finished interviewing the 65-year-old cyclist, who also suffered a head injury.
The collision occurred near an overpass that slopes downhill on both sides, which the police believe may have contributed to the crash. The relatives of the deceased woman have been informed.
