# Man Arrested After Threat Report in Lohals: Police Conduct Major Operation
On Tuesday morning, Lohals, located on the island of Langeland, was the scene of a significant police operation following the arrest of a 58-year-old man who allegedly made threats against a police officer. The operation involved helicopters, boats, drones, and military personnel.
According to Anders Furbo Terkelsen, Deputy Police Inspector at the Funen Police (Fyns Politi), the police received a report at 6:45 AM regarding explosives on a boat in the harbor. This led to the evacuation of 50 individuals from the area.
“Early on, we established contact with the 58-year-old via telephone. Throughout the morning, negotiations took place between him and the police, which resulted in his arrest,” stated Terkelsen.
Although no explosives were found, the man is now charged with making threats against a police officer. The police did not reveal any details regarding the man’s motives or his condition at the time of the arrest.
During a doorstep meeting, the Deputy Police Inspector indicated that, at this point, there is no reason for a preliminary court hearing. Furthermore, it is known that the police are already familiar with the individual, but no additional details on this matter have been disclosed.
By 3 PM, the Funen Police announced on the platform X (formerly known as Twitter) that the barriers and evacuations around Lohals had been lifted.
“We understand that it may have seemed overwhelming for those we relocated, but they are now safely back. When explosives are involved, we have a number of tools at our disposal,” Terkelsen added.
