# Heavy Police Presence in Lohals: Suspicion of Explosives
On Monday morning, Funen Police (Fyns Politi) have established a significant presence at the harbor in Lohals, located on the Danish island of Langeland. A small area has been evacuated due to a potential threat involving explosives.
In a press release issued around 11 AM, Funen Police stated that they received a report at 6:45 AM concerning a potential explosive device. “It is currently unclear whether there is actual explosive material at the site. The police are investigating this matter,” Funen Police noted.
In the area, it is crucial for the public to follow police instructions. “Funen Police are focused on managing the situation and ensuring the safety of individuals in the vicinity. Therefore, a minor evacuation has been initiated,” the press release stated.
Funen Police are requesting that the public maintain a calm environment and have promised to provide further updates as soon as more information becomes available regarding the situation.
According to Funen’s local newspaper, Fyns Amts Avis, a witness reported seeing drones in the air, and the paper’s journalist on the scene has indicated that the police are heavily armed. Additionally, a boat has been deployed in the water near Lohals Harbor, and a helicopter is hovering overhead.
TV 2 Funen reports that there are at least ten police cars and a bus with police personnel present on the scene. The media outlet has also shared images of bomb disposal units that have arrived in Lohals. The fire department is also reportedly en route, based on sightings by residents in the neighboring Tåsinge, who have observed fire trucks making their way towards Langeland.
Communications advisor Sunniva Pedersen-Reng from Funen Police has stated that she cannot provide any further details regarding the police presence at the harbor at this time.
