A 23-year-old man has been remanded in custody for four weeks until August 27, as a suspect in the possession of illegal firearms. The decision was made on Tuesday at the District Court in Holbæk, where the man pleaded not guilty. The Mid and West Zealand Police (Midt- og Vestsjællands Politi) arrested him on Tuesday morning at 8:30 AM, following a lengthy investigation.
According to Police Duty Officer Asger Bechstrøm, the charges stem from the discovery of weapons earlier this year in Holbæk. The investigation began after weapons were found in January and February. Communications Consultant Charlotte Tornquist from the Mid and West Zealand Police stated that the charges include a variety of weapons, including a signal pistol that was alleged to have been modified to fire live ammunition. This pistol was discovered along with several other types of weapons in Ladegårdsparken in February.
Additionally, the 23-year-old man is also charged with possessing a Beretta pistol, which was confiscated by the police in Apotekerhaven in January. Tornquist further announced that several other individuals have been charged and are already in custody in connection with this case. The police’s ongoing investigation aims to clarify the extent of the illegal activities and any connections between the individuals charged.
