On Tuesday evening near Filskov, close to Grindsted, a significant police operation was triggered, culminating in warning shots being fired. Two individuals attempted to evade police in a vehicle after a citizen reported that they had been threatened with a pistol-like object.
The police received the report at 6:30 PM and initiated a chase approximately half an hour later. Following the discharge of warning shots, the police succeeded in stopping the vehicle and apprehending the two individuals, a 26-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman, both from the Billund Municipality. During the arrest, a soft gun was discovered.
“We always take reports of weapons very seriously, which is why we had a considerable presence in Filskov. Today, we will also be particularly visible to engage with residents regarding the incident,” said Police Commissioner Brian Kristiansen.
The man has been charged with making life-threatening threats, while the woman faces charges for driving under the influence of narcotics and violating knife laws. Fortunately, no individuals were harmed during the incident, and after assessment, there is no basis for detaining the arrested individuals. The Independent Police Complaints Authority (Den Uafhængige Politiklagemyndighed) will now investigate the case, which is standard procedure following the police’s use of warning shots.
