Two Suspects Charged in Fraud Cases Targeting Elderly Citizens

Two alleged perpetrators have been charged in connection with fraud cases targeting elderly citizens in Southern and South Jutland, Denmark. The police have made these charges following an extensive investigation, during which vigilant citizens played a crucial role.

On Monday, the police received reports about two incidents where elderly citizens were contacted by individuals posing as bank employees. In one instance, the fraudsters managed to obtain both the victim’s debit card and PIN code. However, later that same day, a citizen in Gråsten spotted a suspicious individual at an ATM. This person was wearing a cap and a neck gaiter that covered their face, which aroused the citizen’s suspicion and led to a report to the police.

In another incident, a perpetrator attempted to defraud an elderly citizen of their debit card. This was thwarted thanks to another observant citizen who intervened and scared the fraudster away before the crime could be completed.

The investigation’s leads guided the police to two individuals who have now been charged and interrogated in relation to the case. The alleged perpetrators have since been released while the investigation continues. The police have not commented on the charges or the defendants’ responses to the allegations.
