A 31-year-old man has been arrested following an incident late Wednesday night where he drove in the wrong direction on the highway near Haverslev in Northern Jutland, according to Northern Jutland Police (Nordjyllands Politi). The man was traveling southbound in the northbound lane, which resulted in multiple reports from shocked motorists to the emergency services.
Duty officer Jesper Sørensen from Northern Jutland Police stated that they received the first report at 10:59 PM. After approximately five kilometers of driving in the wrong direction, the police managed to stop the vehicle, which was being driven by the 31-year-old man.
According to the police, the driver was heavily under the influence of drugs and was driving without a valid driver’s license. Blood samples have been taken from the man, and he is now charged with several offenses, including endangerment.
Due to the man’s condition, it has not yet been possible to interview him. The interrogation is scheduled to take place later this morning, after which it will be determined whether he will be presented in a preliminary hearing.
