A 30-year-old man from Aarhus is currently facing multiple serious charges from the East Jutland Police (Østjyllands Politi) after allegedly committing a series of violent acts against a 54-year-old man. According to police reports, the incidents began with a robbery on May 31 and culminated a month and a half later, when the suspect reportedly attacked the same individual with his fists and burned him in the face with a lighter.
This brutal attack took place on July 15 in Hasselager, a suburb of Aarhus, where the assailant came to the victim’s home and subjected him to severe violence. On Wednesday morning, the 30-year-old was arrested at a residence in Risskov after police were called to remove him from the premises, as he was unwanted there. During the arrest, authorities discovered that he was wanted for the brutal violent act and apprehended him on the spot. Additionally, police found various items on the man that may have originated from a burglary.
The arrested individual was presented at a preliminary court hearing on Thursday, where he was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, and witness intimidation. Due to the serious nature of the charges and the ongoing investigation, the judge decided to remand the 30-year-old in custody for four weeks. The suspect has reserved the right to appeal the ruling to a higher court.
In connection with the arrest, East Jutland Police announced that they, together with Aarhus Municipality, will intensify their efforts to protect and support witnesses in criminal cases. This will include more pre-trial hearings, which will allow witnesses to provide their testimony in front of a judge early in the process.
