In a significant case involving the smuggling of at least 60 kilograms of hashish, Danish police have revealed that they wiretapped a vehicle believed to have been used by the banned gang Loyal To Familia (LTF). This information emerged during a court hearing at the Frederiksberg Court, where seven men are charged with their roles in the smuggling and distribution of the hashish.
Special prosecutor Maja Schiøtz stated that the vehicle, a Mazda 626, served as a so-called “pool vehicle” for LTF Amager. This term refers to a vehicle that multiple gang members could use as needed. The accused, aged between 23 and 28, are alleged to have facilitated the distribution of the hashish to various LTF chapters in the Copenhagen area and Helsingør, a town north of the capital. They are also charged with furthering the activities of the banned gang organization. All of the accused plead not guilty.
One of the defendants, a 25-year-old man, faces additional charges of aggravated assault for allegedly stabbing another man in the arm with a knife, a charge he also denies. The prosecution hopes that the wiretaps from the vehicle will provide evidence for these serious crimes. The recordings are scheduled to be played over at least five court days.
The police faced challenges in identifying the individuals on the wiretaps as they used nicknames. To overcome this, officers installed a GPS device in the vehicle and initiated parallel investigations to identify those involved. Police observers have documented the appearance and clothing of the individuals using the car, and several of these observers are set to testify in court.
Additionally, an eighth person, who is believed to have played a leadership role in LTF Amager, has been detained in absentia. The police suspect that this individual is currently abroad and had close ties with the seven defendants regarding the hashish smuggling operation.
