A serious accident occurred on Friday evening at Bjerringbro Station in Denmark, where a 60-year-old man had one of his legs severed after being struck by a train. The Mid and West Jutland Police (Midt- og Vestjyllands Politi) reported that the incident took place shortly before 6 PM local time when the man fell onto the tracks in front of an oncoming train. Witnesses at the scene indicated that the man may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
Following the accident, the injured man was immediately transported to Aarhus University Hospital in Skejby. Shift supervisor Anders Bøje Hansen stated that despite the severe injury, the man was conscious when emergency services arrived: “When we got there, we could see that one leg had been severed, but the man was awake, and he was subsequently airlifted to Skejby Hospital,” he said. According to the shift supervisor, the man’s condition is critical.
It remains unclear whether the accident has affected train operations at Bjerringbro Station.
