Police Seek Public Help in Fatal Aalborg Highway Incident

A 67-year-old man from Aalborg was involved in a violent incident at a motorway exit in the city on Monday. He died from his injuries the following day. The North Jutland Police (Nordjyllands Politi) are now seeking public assistance to clarify the tragic event, which they characterize as a “very serious violent episode.”

Police Commissioner Lene Madsen of North Jutland Police stated in a press release that the police are working to determine whether the man’s death is a direct result of the violent incident. They are urging anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity at motorway exit 24 on Øster Uttrup Vej in Aalborg on Monday, June 29, between 1:00 PM and 1:15 PM to come forward.

According to the police, two vehicles—a Volkswagen Tiguan and a Nissan pickup—were parked by the roadside, where a fatal conflict unfolded between two individuals from each vehicle. As a result, the 67-year-old man sustained injuries so severe that he succumbed to them the following day.

A 57-year-old man suspected of being involved in this incident was remanded in custody following a preliminary court hearing on Friday. As this hearing was closed to the public, details of the incident and the accused’s statement have not been released. However, it has been revealed that the 57-year-old man has pleaded not guilty.

To gain more clarity, the police are now asking witnesses who passed the location during the specified timeframe or who have other relevant information to contact them as soon as possible at phone number 114.
