A tragic incident has struck Helsinge, a town in Denmark, where a 12-year-old girl has died following an explosion in a townhouse that occurred in April. The explosion, which took place on April 11, also resulted in serious injuries to three other girls aged 10 to 12, as well as a 44-year-old woman. The girl, who had been hospitalized since the accident, passed away on July 28, according to reports from TV 2 and confirmed by Ekstra Bladet, a Danish news outlet.

Authorities previously reported that the likely cause of the explosion was careless handling of aerosol cans of dry shampoo combined with the use of lighters. Anne Alsøe, Deputy Police Inspector with the North Zealand Police (Nordsjællands Politi), stated that a significant number of dry shampoo cans were found at the scene, indicating a possible cause of the fire. Dry shampoo is known to be a flammable product as it comes in spray containers, similar to hair spray.

A 43-year-old man played a heroic role in rescuing the injured children and the woman from the burning townhouse. He sustained minor injuries during the rescue operation. Anne Alsøe praised the man’s actions, noting that his swift response likely prevented an even greater tragedy.

However, the North Zealand Police have chosen not to comment further on the death of the 12-year-old girl.
