A 25-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman have been charged with participation in an attempted murder following a shooting incident at Blågårds Plads, a public square in Copenhagen, on Wednesday evening. They appeared in a preliminary court hearing at the Copenhagen City Court (Københavns Byret) on Friday at 1 PM, where a judge was tasked with determining whether they should be remanded in custody. Both individuals have pleaded not guilty.
The shooting occurred around 9 PM, but no individuals were injured. A 16-year-old Swedish boy was arrested shortly afterward and charged with attempted murder as well as possession of two pistols. He was brought before the court on Thursday and has been remanded to a closed psychiatric facility for a period of 27 days.
The 25-year-old man and the 31-year-old woman have also been charged with illegal possession of weapons. According to the charges, they allegedly assisted the 16-year-old boy in entering Denmark and acted in concert with several unidentified accomplices. For the sake of the ongoing investigation, the doors to the court were closed during the preliminary hearing, and a ban on the publication of names has been imposed.
In court, the 25-year-old man appeared calm, while the woman was seen crying and was clearly affected by the situation. Both defense attorneys requested that the doors remain closed and highlighted that their clients maintain their innocence. Further details regarding the case are being kept confidential due to the closed court session.
