A 25-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman from Denmark have been charged with complicity in attempted murder following a dramatic shooting incident at Blågårds Plads in the Nørrebro district on Wednesday night. They were presented in a preliminary hearing at the Copenhagen City Court (Københavns Byret) on Friday afternoon, where a judge will determine whether the couple should be detained in custody.
Earlier in the week, police had already taken a 16-year-old Swedish boy into custody in connection with the shooting, which, miraculously, resulted in no injuries. The boy is accused of firing multiple shots with a 9mm Glock pistol and possessing another firearm that was found in an apartment in Hvidovre, a suburb of Copenhagen.
The detained man and woman are also charged with illegal possession of weapons and for allegedly assisting the young Swedish perpetrator in entering Denmark before the crime. According to the prosecution, they are believed to have collaborated with several unknown accomplices in the days leading up to the shooting.
The preliminary hearing was held behind closed doors to protect the ongoing investigation, and both the defense and the prosecution requested a ban on naming individuals and further confidentiality regarding the details of the case. The 25-year-old man and the 31-year-old woman both pleaded not guilty. The man appeared calm in the courtroom, while the woman broke down in tears.
The shooting at Blågårds Plads occurred around 9 PM on Wednesday evening, prompting a swift police response. The exact motive behind the shooting is still unclear, and the investigation will continue to uncover the roles and intentions of all parties involved.
The 16-year-old boy is currently in custody in a closed psychiatric ward, as law enforcement and the judicial system work diligently to resolve the case and hold all involved accountable.
