On Wednesday evening, chaos erupted in the center of Herning, Denmark, when a 32-year-old homeless woman shattered several large glass panels on a bridge connecting the bus station and the train station. Fragments of glass fell onto Dronningens Boulevard (Queen’s Boulevard), prompting numerous calls to the Mid and West Jutland Police (Midt- og Vestjyllands Politi). Duty Officer Anders Olesen reported that the police received more than 20 inquiries regarding the incident.
The homeless woman, who was reportedly under the influence during the event, was quickly apprehended and spent the night in detention in Holstebro, a nearby town. According to police, the woman acted deliberately in hopes of being arrested so that she could secure a place to sleep.
The woman is already known to authorities, but there is not sufficient reason for her to appear in a preliminary hearing for detention. A medical assessment will now determine whether she should be sent for substance abuse treatment, and she is also scheduled to be questioned on Thursday.
