Three Arrested in Case of Missing Danish Man’s Murder

Three individuals—a 48-year-old woman and two men aged 60 and 27—have been remanded in custody by the Holbæk Court until August 29. They are all charged with the murder of Jimmi Steffen Lillelund, who has been missing since April 2020. This information was released by the Mid and West Zealand Police (Midt- og Vestsjællands Politi) in a press statement.

The three suspects have the option to appeal the decision, which they have all indicated they may do, and in such a scenario, the High Court will have to rule on their custody. Deputy Police Inspector Kim Løvkvist emphasized that the police are hoping that individuals with information about the case will come forward, as it could be crucial for the investigation.

In June, the three were charged with murder, but at that time, the prosecution did not find sufficient grounds to request their detention. The head of the investigation, Lars Krogsgaard, explained that the charges were filed to grant the individuals certain legal rights. However, further inquiries have now strengthened the basis for suspicion to the extent that detention became necessary.

Jimmi Lillelund, who was 42 at the time of his disappearance, was living with his sister on a farm near Gundsømagle and vanished on April 30, 2020. He reportedly went to an allotment association in Ishøj to meet a woman. His car was discovered at the allotment association, but there were no signs of him. After several days, his family reported him missing.

Since his disappearance, the police have been investigating the case as a murder without a body. Searches have been conducted in a nearby lake and from the air, but they have been unsuccessful.

In July this year, there were developments in the case. The police announced that three individuals had been interviewed and charged the previous month. Excavators were also seen at the farm in Gundsømagle as part of the investigation.

In addition to murder charges, the three suspects are also accused of improper treatment of a corpse, as they have allegedly disposed of it. The police have not released information regarding the suspects’ stance on the charges or whether they had any relationship to the deceased Jimmi Lillelund.
