Three individuals now face the possibility of imprisonment in the case of Jimmi Steffen Lillelund, who went missing without a trace in April 2020. The Mid and West Zealand Police (Midt- og Vestsjællands Politi) have reported that the suspects include a 48-year-old woman and two men aged 60 and 27, respectively. All three were charged back in June, but at that time, the prosecution did not find sufficient grounds to request their detention.
However, subsequent investigations have strengthened the basis for suspicion, and the police are now seeking to have the three detained. They are scheduled to appear in a preliminary court hearing (grundlovsforhør) at the Holbæk Court (Retten i Holbæk) on Saturday morning, where the prosecutor will request that the hearing be held behind closed doors. It will be up to the judge to make this decision.
Jimmi Lillelund, who was 42 years old at the time of his disappearance, was last seen in late April 2020. According to reports, he was renting a space on his sister’s farm in Gundsømagle and was supposed to have met a woman at a community garden in Ishøj, a suburb of Copenhagen. His car was found at the location, but Jimmi himself was nowhere to be found. Two days after his disappearance, his family reported him missing.
Initially, the police treated the case as a standard missing person investigation. Extensive search efforts were conducted, including diving operations in a nearby lake and aerial searches with a helicopter, but these yielded no results. In July of this year, the police announced that they had questioned and charged three individuals in connection with the case.
The police have also charged the three with improper treatment of a corpse, stating that they allegedly disposed of Jimmi Lillelund’s body. No information has been provided regarding how the suspects respond to the charges or whether they have any connections to the missing individual.
The preliminary court hearing is set to begin at 9 AM on Saturday at the Holbæk Court.
