A woman in her 40s was struck by a car during a vehicle event in Roskilde on Saturday afternoon, which resulted in her being airlifted to the trauma center at Rigshospitalet (Copenhagen University Hospital). Mid and West Zealand Police (Midt- og Vestsjællands Politi) report that the driver of the vehicle attempted to make a U-turn on a grass field and failed to see the woman, who was sunbathing at the location.
Watch Commander Lars Galasz from Mid and West Zealand Police stated that the woman was hit across the abdomen during the incident. Galasz emphasized that there is a risk of internal bleeding in such situations, which is why the woman was immediately flown to the hospital by helicopter. Her current condition remains unclear.
It has been confirmed that the vehicle involved in the incident was not part of the ongoing Viking Run, which is an annual event for American car enthusiasts held in Roskilde. Eyewitnesses and the police are now collaborating to establish the precise circumstances surrounding the accident. Further information is expected later.
