A woman in her 40s was severely injured on Saturday afternoon after being struck by a car during a car meet in Roskilde, Denmark. According to the Mid and West Zealand Police (Midt- og Vestsjællands Politi), the accident occurred when a driver made a U-turn on a grassy field and failed to notice the woman, who was sunbathing at the time.
The incident took place around 5 PM, and the police were alerted immediately. A medical helicopter was dispatched rapidly to the scene, where it was determined that the woman needed to be transported to Rigshospitalet for further examination. She was flown to Copenhagen to be checked for potential internal injuries and bleeding, which were not immediately visible.
Duty Officer Lars Galasz reported that the woman was conscious when the helicopter arrived to take her to the hospital. The police have not arrested the driver at this time; however, a traffic report is being prepared, and it will later be assessed whether there are grounds for charges in the case.
The accident has cast a shadow over the car meet and raised questions about the safety of the event. The police are continuing their investigation and gathering witness statements to clarify the sequence of events.
