Christian Friis Bach, a prominent figure in the Danish political party Radikale Venstre (the Social Liberal Party), has announced his resignation from the party after nearly four decades of membership. The former minister confirmed his decision by joining the Venstre (the Liberal Party), as he shared in a recent update on Facebook.
Bach expressed significant sadness over his departure from Radikale Venstre but explained that the decision was made following extensive consideration and numerous discussions. He noted that his original campaign was centered on the goal of creating a centrist government, a mission that he now feels Radikale Venstre has distanced itself from by withdrawing from government negotiations at the last moment.
The former Minister for Development (2011-2013) in Helle Thorning-Schmidt’s government emphasized that, although he may not agree with all the decisions made by the government, he respects the efforts of the three governing parties and wishes to support their work.
Christian Friis Bach affirmed his commitment to continuing to advocate for his key issues, such as climate change, education, human rights, and the establishment of a financially stable centrist government.
