Københavns Police responded with a significant presence on Monday evening to Falkoner Allé near Frederiksberg Centre after reports of a shooting. The alarm was raised at 5:43 PM, and shortly after, at around 6:15 PM, the police announced on the social media platform X that an individual had been shot at the intersection of Falkoner Allé and Christian Winthers Vej.
Deputy Police Inspector Lasse Michelsen later in the evening, around 8:00 PM, confirmed that the victim was a male who is no longer in life-threatening condition and is now stable. His relatives have been informed, and around 9:30 PM, the police reported that the man is 18 years old.
The police have made an arrest in connection with the case and believe they have detained the suspected perpetrator. Deputy Inspector Michelsen stated that they expect to present the arrested individual at a preliminary hearing (grundlovsforhør) on Tuesday, but a specific time has yet to be determined.
The shooting occurred at number 19 on Falkoner Allé, where a jewelry store is located. It is still unclear whether the shooting took place inside the store or outside on the street. The area from Howitzvej to Nyelandsvej was cordoned off, and the metro station at Frederiksberg was inaccessible for several hours. However, after 9:30 PM, the restrictions were reduced to the area around the intersection of Falkoner Allé and Christian Winthers Vej, and the metro station was reopened for use.
The motive behind the shooting remains unknown, and the details surrounding the arrested individual have not yet been released. Witness accounts from the vicinity of Frederiksberg Swimming Hall describe how the police took a person away in a DNA suit on Monday evening.
On Tuesday, police will continue to be present in the area to ensure the safety and comfort of local residents.
