On Tuesday evening, police and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal service (EOD) were present at a kiosk located at Hans Knudsens Plads 6 in Østerbro, Copenhagen. Copenhagen Police initiated an investigation into a suspicious incident after receiving a report at 8:34 PM regarding a possible explosion, where an object had been thrown into the kiosk.
The police expected to remain on the scene for several hours to continue their comprehensive investigation. The kiosk area was cordoned off, and several officers, along with one member of the EOD, were present. Photographic documentation showed them wearing blue disposable masks while inspecting the entrance of the kiosk with a camera.
Duty Officer Jesper Frandsen stated that the police are still trying to gain a better understanding of the incident before they can provide additional details. No individuals were injured during the episode. Frandsen did not wish to comment on whether any arrests had been made or to specify the exact nature of the investigation being conducted.
The Capital Region’s Emergency Services (Hovedstadens Beredskab) reported shortly before 7 PM about smoke developing in the kiosk, after which the matter was handed over to the police for further investigation.
