A 34-year-old man from the Sønderborg Municipality has been remanded in custody for 14 days following a serious incident in which he allegedly subjected a woman to rape, violence, and death threats over several days. The episode took place between August 2 and August 5 in the woman’s car, according to the South and Southeast Jutland Police (Syd- og Sønderjyllands Politi).

The man was detained on Monday by a witness in Gråsten and subsequently arrested by the police. The court in Sønderborg held a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, during which the charges were read. Following this, the court session was closed to the public.

The charges reveal that the woman, who is known to the accused, suffered multiple assaults. It has been described that the man punched, kicked, bit, and attempted to strangle her. Additionally, he is charged with having forced her to engage in anal intercourse.

One of the most shocking allegations in the charges is that the man allegedly asked the woman to choose between crashing head-on into an oncoming vehicle or being stabbed to death in a forest.

The accused’s attorney has stated that he pleads not guilty and wishes to provide an explanation; however, the content of this explanation remains unknown due to the closed nature of the court proceedings. The police will now question other individuals the accused claims to have been with during the pertinent days.
