Explosion Investigation Underway at Copenhagen Kiosk, No Injuries Reported

A kiosk at Hans Knudsens Plads in Copenhagen has become the focus of a police investigation Tuesday evening after an object was thrown inside, causing an explosion. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

Copenhagen Police (Københavns Politi) received reports about the explosion and are actively present at the scene, where a thorough investigation is underway. Authorities expect to remain at the location for several hours to secure and examine the area.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team is also on-site, working in conjunction with bomb detection dogs to search the vicinity. According to Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, a fist-sized hole was found in the kiosk’s front window, which is evident from images taken at the scene.

Earlier in the evening, the Capital Region Fire Department (Hovedstadens Beredskab) briefly attended the site to address a report of a fire within the kiosk. However, they quickly handed over responsibility and the crime scene to the police.
