On Sunday evening, a fire unexpectedly broke out in an apartment in Kjellerup, Denmark, due to an unusual cause. According to Anders Simonsen, the incident commander at Midtjysk Brand og Redning (Midtjylland Fire and Rescue), the fire began on the outside of a window frame.
What made the incident particularly mysterious was that the sun’s rays hit a cosmetic mirror inside the apartment. The mirror’s reflection was so intense that it ignited the exterior of the window frame. Firefighters from Midtjysk Brand og Redning responded swiftly and managed to gain control of the fire before it could spread into the apartment.
Simonsen emphasized that there was no smoke that entered the apartment itself, which significantly reduced the damage. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety precautions, even when it comes to seemingly harmless household objects such as mirrors.
